We are seeking a dynamic team player to join Save the Children as our Donor Relations and Awards Manager. In this role, you will be the country office leader for the quality of award management business processes, from beginning to end of the award cycle. You will identify and build relationships with external donors and within the global organisation; you will work with our Program and Finance teams to submit high quality proposals to donors; and you will bring amazing attention to detail to make sure that all our reporting to donors is of the highest quality.
To help achieve our ambition, you will also be responsible for capacity building of staff and improving internal ways of working in resource mobilization and award management. In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, you will be expected to work outside the normal role profile and vary your working hours.
SCOPE OF ROLE:

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:
Resource Mobilisation / Business Development
· Support corporate and institutional fundraising strategy and planning for China programme and engage appropriate stakeholders in its development.
· Lead fundraising from a portfolio of corporate and institutional donors and coordinate business development opportunities with other Save the Children member offices.
· Identify and track the international donor environment for trends at national, regional and global levels.
· Support the Director to identify future international funding opportunities in line with funding gaps and strategic priorities, including for emergency response.
· Represent Save the Children externally at donor meetings and be proactive in establishing and maintaining relationships with current and prospect funders.
· Monitor risks and oversee the due diligence process for corporate and institutional opportunities when necessary.
· Coordinate the development of high quality proposals for international corporate & institutional donors.
· Provide necessary support for incoming surge capacity during emergencies, working closely with Save the Children’s Regional and Head Office.
· Ensure that China programme upholds the SCI Essential Standards in Award Management, and meets the SCI global Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) in award management.
· Ensure award management systems and processes are successfully implemented, and key controls are in place to comply with donors’ rules and regulations.
Ensure regular award monitoring across the country office by facilitating regular meetings with key stakeholders. Ensure individual award performance is being tracked effectively, and that risks are being recognised and action taken.
· Coordinate the process of donor reporting to ensure that reports meet member and donor expectations of quality; are submitted on time; and supported by auditable records.
· Lead Award Kick off meetings to ensure that all award information is shared effectively with relevant staff, including field offices and partners.
· Ensure close-out process are completed on time.
· Ensure that all necessary staff have a clear understanding of donor requirements/expectations throughout the award cycle. Ensure potential issues and amendment requests are flagged promptly to the management team, then to donors via the relevant member.
Partnerships / Sub-Awards
· Ensure all implementing partner organisations undergo legal vetting, and are input, tracked and approved through the Award Management System (AMS).
· Ensure all sub-award agreements are issued in the correct contract format, and are negotiated where necessary in line with Save the Children global requirements.
· Respond quickly and appropriately to external requests for information, especially in emergencies.
· Maintain strong working relationships and effective communications with Save the Children member headquarters regarding donor related issues.
· Lead a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous improvement on donor relations and award management in the country.
· Carry out orientations and trainings on award management procedures and donor requirements for Save the Children staff and partner organisations.
Supervision and Management
· Manage a sub-team including senior officer level position to contribute to the above objectives.
· Manage external consultant proposal writers when needed.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
· A professional qualification at postgraduate level or equivalent in a related subject.
· Outstanding attention to details in all tasks.
· Strong interpersonal communication and networking skills suitable for a range of different audiences. Ability to write and edit at a level suitable for publication in English.
· Excellent analytical and creative problem solving skills.
· Ability to collaborate and build support from other staff, and coordinate work across line management boundaries to achieve shared objectives and wider organisational initiatives.
· Good thinking and planning skills, including ability to set priorities, manage work-planning and evaluate progress.
· Ability to operate within a predominantly administratively self-servicing environment.
· Commitment to the aims of Save the Children, an organisation working for social change and active in the promotion of the rights of the child.
· Previous fundraising or grant management experience for a non-profit organisation.
· Previous experience working on issues related to institutional donors (EG European Commission, Rockefeller Foundation)
· Previous experience working with MNCs and their respective CSR departments
