Child Safeguarding Statement for Adverts

TITLE:   Project Officer -(2200096E)

TEAM/PROGRAMME: Child-Friendly Justice programme

LOCATION: Kunming, Yunnan

GRADE: 5

CONTRACT LENGTH: Fixed term

POST STATUS:

Accompanied / Unaccompanied / Accompanied Partner Only

CHILD SAFEGUARDING:

Level 3:  the post holder will have contact with children and/or young people either frequently (e.g. once a week or more) or intensively (e.g. four days in one month or more or overnight) because they work country programs; or are visiting country programs; or because they are responsible for implementing the police checking/vetting process staff.

ROLE PURPOSE:

To work with project manager on implementation of child-friendly justice projects particularly on components related to law;

To cooperate and collaborate with varies partners including judicial departments, government agencies and other secotors to support the local child protection service resource building and integration, particularly those related to law and justice;

To assist the management of of child-friendly justice project in pilot site(s) on resource centers for multi-disciplinary profesionals related to One-stop Center for child survivors of SGBV and other forms of egregious violence.

SCOPE OF ROLE:

Reports to: Project Manager

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY :

·        To work on the developing technical products and training materials related to key social services provider like lawyers, judicical social workers and doctors;

·        To support project team and partners of legal aid centers, law firms, judicial social work organizations and other service providers on awareness of child-friendly justice and national policy and legislation;

·        To assist on capacity building on for profesionals in judicial system and those working with judicial departments on providing services to children as offenders or survivors of violence;

·        To participate in developing and maintaining  relationships with judicial partners to facilitate the implementation of project;

·        To assist the project manager in preparation of project budgets, financial reports and forecasts and in monitoring.

·        To  assist project manager on implementation of child-friendly justice projects contributing to design, planning, budgeting, monitoring and evaluation;

QUALIFICATIONS 

·        A education background on law or both law and social work with batchlar or above degree or certification in a related subject

·        Knowledge and capacity on law, judical social work, child rights, project manangement and basic social research methodology

·        At least one years of relevant experience in justice or law area

·        Excellent interpersonal commuhnication skills/experience and proven ability to work with  various people

·        Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

·        Capcity of quick learning with open minded and innovative thinking

·        Willingness to travel to field offices and work in difficult environments according to travel requirements

·        Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with colleagues across the organisation developing effective working relationships to deliver outstanding results for children

·        Commitment to and understanding of Save the Children’s aims, values and principles

·        Willingness and capability to comply with all relevant Save the Children policies and procedures with respect to health and safety, security, equal opportunities and other relevant policies, including the Child Safeguarding Policy

 

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

Essential

Experience:

·        At least one years of relevant experience in justice or law area

Communication and Technical Skills

·        Good communication skills, both written and verbal

·        Ability and personal characteristics to build trustful relationships with a broad range of stakeholders, participate in promoting partnerships/working alliances between justice and other sectors

·        Excellent personal organisational skills, including time management, multi-task ability and ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure

·        Good learning ability and capable of seeking new ways of problem-solving oriented approach

 

General:

·        Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues across the organisation developing effective working relationships to deliver outstanding results for children

·        Commitment to and understanding of Save the Children’s aims, values and principles

·        Willingness and capability to comply with all relevant Save the Children policies and procedures with respect to health and safety, security, equal opportunities and other relevant policies, including the Child Safeguarding Policy

Desirable

Working or internship experience in judicial departments or law firms.
