Consultancy title: Humanitarian and Operation Consultant

Location: Chengdu

 

CHILD SAFEGUARDING:

Level 2: either the post holder will have access to personal data about children and/or young people as part of their work; or the post holder will be working  in a ‘regulated’ position (accountant, barrister, solicitor, legal executive); therefore a police check  will be required (at ‘standard’ level in the UK or equivalent in other countries).


Role Purpose

Save the Children’s humanitarian action is driven by the imperative to save lives and protect children, alleviate suffering, restore dignity, and aid the recovery process. This is done on the basis of need, without discrimination, and independent from political, economic, or military objectives.

This role primarily supports the Programme Director (PD/Humanitarian Lead) in overseeing Save the Children China Country Office’s (CO) ongoing natural disaster response efforts. It will also guarantee the office maintains robust operational and thematic Emergency Preparedness Plans (EPPs) and Emergency Preparedness and Response Readiness (EPRR). The incumbent will boost awareness among staff and implementing partners of the organisation’s humanitarian response approaches and internal systems, while conducting continuous monitoring of humanitarian early warning indicators.

When a humanitarian emergency occurs, the post holder shall engage in all humanitarian response activities in full alignment with the SCI Humanitarian Response Framework and Core Humanitarian Standards, to deliver timely, suitable and effective emergency interventions.

The role will also provide operation support for the national stakeholders reporting preparation such as Annual Work Plan/Report and monthly work plan preparation which responsibility mainly under PD.

 

Person Specifications required:

Ø  At least master degree in medicine, nutrition, public health, health policy, global health or equivalent health and nutrition fields. With rich field experience and strong research background are desirable.

Ø  At least 2 years’ experience in program implementation, monitoring and evaluation, policy research and advocacy in a given or broader field related to health and nutrition.

Ø  Previous experience of working for an international NGO, a multilateral organization, or an international business.
