TITLE:  Project Officer

Contract Type: National only

TEAM/PROGRAMME: Family Protection on Children

LOCATION: Guangzhou

GRADE: 5

CONTRACT LENGTH:2 years

CHILD SAFEGUARDING:

Level 3:  the post holder will have contact with children and/or young people either frequently (e.g. once a week or more) or intensively (e.g. four days in one month or more or overnight) because they work country programs; or are visiting country programs; or because they are responsible for implementing the police checking/vetting process staff.

 

ROLE PURPOSE:

The role holder will be expect to assist the Lead of Operation- Family Protection to manage the core-trainer team on direct services; to develop and coordinate multiple stakeholders especially corporates to promote family protection in migrant population in China.

 In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be expected to work outside the normal role profile and be able to vary working hours accordingly.

 

SCOPE OF ROLE:

 Reports to: Lead of Operation- Family Protection on Children

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

l  Assist the Lead of Operation- Family Protection on Children to lead the core trainer team to provide Training of trainers, course development, and knowledge management from the services of family protection.

l  To lead the revision and upgrading of the procedure maps of family protection services, group sessions, contributes to the contextualization of Parenting without Violence Common Approach.

l  To ensure accountability and quality of service delivery together with stakeholders.

l  To contribute to the quarterly reporting, IPTT, and donor reporting according to the Parenting without Violence implementation.

l  To contribute to the communications needs of the programme and organization, helping with online and offline campaigns, reports and case studies that will support policy advocacy, fund-raising or other needs.

l  To work with other stakeholders (children, NGOs, Donors, Government Departments) engaged in Parenting without Violence activities in order to strengthen system building and to share technical resources in the interests of greater efficiency and effectiveness.

l  To support the effective integration of activities into projects paying particular attention to Save the Children’s activities in child rights, child participation and protection.

l  To comply with the requirements of Save the Children’s child safeguarding and other policies.

l  To perform such other tasks and responsibilities as may be required from time to time in order to ensure the smooth running of the team.

l  Be required to carry out the duties in accordance with SCI Accountability Procedure;

l  Hold accountable to children and communities which includes providing regular, timely and accessible information to children and adults in the communities;

l  Providing children and adults with opportunities to express their views and influence decision-making across the program cycle;

l  Solving feedback or complaints received from Save the Children China Country Offices multiple feedback and reporting channels if relevant and collect feedback from communities and report to MEAL team on a regular basis.

QUALIFICATIONS 

A professional qualification at least bachelor degree or equivalent in a related subject such as education, ccommunity management, communication, marketing and or other related subject. If Post holder has eexperience in family/adult education service will be priority.

 

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

Essential

·         A minimum of one years’ experience of communication / CSR / ESG etc. Fresh graduate with solid relevant internship experience is also considered

·         Solid understanding of family education

·         Good communication, and negotiation skills, and be willing to communicate with people of different backgrounds, including in rural ethnic minority areas

·         Be a quick learner and innovator

·         Not only a positive member in teamwork but a result-oriented leader to complete all work independently

·         A flexible approach to work with good time management and project management skills and the ability to prioritize work and meet deadline

·         Fluent in Mandarin both spoken and written, fair in English written

·         Willing and be able to travel extensively and regularly

·         An understanding of and commitment to, the aims of SC as an organization working for social change and active in the promotion of the rights of the child

·         Able to carry out all appointed work in a non-political and non-discriminatory manner

·         A commitment to support for cross-organizational initiatives and to team working and understanding of how to contribute to this.

Desirable

·         Solid understanding approach of curriculum development, especially facilitation skills.
